Untitled

Ironlak Strikers, Prisma Colors, OTR.850, Sharpies, Pencil, and Molotow on paper

I managed to slip a few sessions in here and there and brush up on my marker rendering. I've picked up a few tricks that I can't wait to apply to canvas as well. It's going to be a busy winter.

Fly's Tie Project

Mural In Men's Bathroom At Fly's Tie Irish Pub
Spray paint

Alright, so I have to apologize for the lack of posts in the past couple of months. I recently started classes at The Art Institute and I've been swamped with homework ever since. I did get a small chance to break free and get busy at The Fly's Tie, though. I wanted to get into more detail, but time was extremely limited. Don't hate me.

Crush Fest Pumas

Crush Fest Pumas
Oil & acrylic on leather

This was my first practice run designing some kicks. These things are mad hard to do, but I'll eventually get the hang of it. By the way, if you're in the 5 Points area tonight swing through to Lomax Lodge and check out Bass Down. Myself and a slew of other dj's will be slaying 10,000 watts of sound.

FREE REVOK!

REVOK ARRESTED AT LAX. BAIL SET AT $320,000!

From Logan Hicks

I was sorry to hear about Revok getting arrested at the Airport recently, but what sucks even more is the outrageous amount of $320,000 bail amount that they set for him. In case you are wondering how much that is compared to other cases happening at the same time in LA check out the info that I compiled below. ALL of the cases below are from the past 2 months.

Basically you can sedate and rape a patient, videotape boys in the restroom, molest children, put a bounty on your daughters boyfriend, carry a machete in public, commit a hate crime, rape a female, or leave your baby in a car that is 115 degrees, and none of those are as bad as graffiti in the eyes of the law. All of the above crimes that i mentioned have a bail amount that is a THIRD as much as Revok’s.

I am curious to see how this plays out. I suspect with the MOCA show and the police state that LA has on street art, it’s not going to be any better.

Sticker design for The Outer Box

Sticker design for The Outer Box
Sharpies, Prismacolors, OTR.850, Ironlak Strikers, & DecoColors on paper

The idea of The Outer Box is to show the world the brilliant work of the southern artists. Brian Gray started the blog back in the spring of 2008 and has since grown to four contributors dedicated to bringing light to the Jacksonville FL art scene. We are focusing on Jacksonville Florida artists first and foremost. Our town has a lot of local talent and The Outer Box will be here to show the world and the community who we are. This blog is here to display the work of those who think outside the box. We will be displaying interviews with both local Jacksonville artists and folks from outside Jacksonville as well. If you have an upcoming show please feel free to send us the info and we will gladly post it up for you. Browse through the site. We have information on local art galleries, gallery shows, and upcoming group shows here in Jacksonville. We want this to be a central location on the web where the outsider, urban, lowbrow, pop, surreal, underground, graffiti, tagging, bombing, and illustrative artist(wheeew!) can share there work with the public and inform/educate the masses about what we do.

The Outer Box is run by local Jacksonville artists Brian Gray, Ed Dansart, Toy Crusher, and Josh Hoye. To see more of our own personal art work visit:
