I just found out there are 13, no, 14 different versions of The Office are you kidding me…
...Anyway, this is - from what I was told - the result of a drunken night in Genova, Sicily, 1999...
...From The Archives!
This is where it gets weird (as if it wasn't already). It's the first page of a sketchbook I started while I was outside of the US, so I had a whole new type of influence and inspiration. What's going to follow in subsequent episodes I consider to be strange because I'd observed vastly different subject matter, people, and events that sent my creative habits into a new direction. I have to say, though, that digging through all of this old work hs been a wild ride down the Autobahn that is Memory Lane.
This is absolutely and hilariously legendary...
I stumbled across Troy Hawke scrolling Instagram and I remember thinking that of all of the things I've seen in this lifetime that I've found humorous, a dude with a British accent wearing an ornate smoking jacket while walking around random cities complimenting people is the last thing I thought I'd find funny. This man does brilliant on a whole new level. Imagine being at a house party and he's in the corner of the room just going in on people in the nicest way.
I hope I get this post up in time for these to still exist:
From DirtyPilot:
"Its been a minute since the Evil DR REVOLT has graced the Dirtypilot cyber walls with a new print release.
Check out this new print edition titled "The Double Neck Bros". An Archival Pigment Print on Moab Entrada 300 gms art paper. Edition of only 50, plus proofs.
Sheet size measures approx 24″× 17.5″ inches. Each print is hand signed, dated "25"by DR REVOLT. Grab one here before they're gone!"
>>> CHECK OUT THE GALLERY HERE <<<
Legends never die and REVOLT is definitely no exception to that rule. This man began his work the same year I was born. The fact that he designed the Yo! MTV Raps logo says volumes that I can't even fit here...
FLORIDA STAND UP! (or have people stopped saying that?)
From A24:
I, a Floridian, will definitely be ordering one of these, no doubt. I feel like it's my duty. Mostly because I'm extremely curious about what they have to say about Jacksonville and really North Florida in general. We get shat on as a state a lot on social media and podcasts (which is hilarious when you think about it), so in all actuality I'm kind of expecting this to be a darkly humorous take on the "Gunshine State".
The horror gems just keep coming...
From Horror Times:
“'EVIL DEAD: BURN', promises to be a "nasty film that hurts" from director Sébastien Vaniček. The ultimate battle against the Deadites will be unleashed in Fall 2026.” 💀🔥
I want to do more research on this, but I also don't want to get invested this early and get my hopes up. I did that with WEAPONS & A L I E N: Earth and, well...I will say this, though: I'n glad that this franchise is being kept alive. However, why in the universe would they cancel Ash vs Evil Dead?
I don't know who Mike is, but thanks buddy...
From Last Exit to Nowhere:
"This documentary can't come soon enough. The Thing Expanded is set to be released in April 2026. - Mike"
Again, thanks Mike! I was 2 minutes ago years old when I found out that The Thing was based on a book written by John W. Campbell. It's probably safe to guess that most films that originated during this era were based on some sort of literature. I, for some odd reason, tend to assume that the people who wrote the movie wrote the story. Silly Negro...
I'm only posting these for street cred...
Someone's watermark is on that first one, I just noticed. Anyway, way before Cork or Phoenix Arts District or a lot of the family friendly art spaces that exist in Jax now, there was the era of independant (and some sponsored) shows popping up often around the city and the lineups were usually full of heavy hitters. I had the honor of being a part of quite a few of these shows (most I don't have the digital flyers for anymore), but unfortunately my family curse of social anxiety kept me from mingling at a lot of them - although I'd show up to hang my work and subsequently at the end of the night to take it down. (I've got some odd stories to tell about the ones I did attend)
OH, before I forget!...
"Our tenth studio album Cabin In The Sky, available November 21st on Mass Appeal. Artwork by Hebru Brantley. Featuring production by DJ Premier, Super Dave, Pete Rock and features by Killer Mike, Yukimi from Little Dragon, Common, Nas and Black Thought."
Maaaan, listen! I don't even need to write any commentary on this one - the lyricism in that track speaks volumes! I think I'm going to head over to the link now and bump this while I wind down for the night.
I don't intend for this to be my last post of 2025, but this months schedule will decide that for me. In the meantime, have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year! If I manage to post again before the 1st, I'll edit this post.
Stay up!
